چکیده
In order to investigate the characteristics of rock and rock-like materials during fracture process, notched semi-circular bending (SCB) experiments 3 rocks 2 were conducted in this paper. The process crack mouth opening was measured with a clip gauge. Acoustic emission used analyze damage failure mode specimens. Meanwhile, zone (FPZ) analyzed digital image correlation (DIC). Finally, differences between observed polarized microscope, formation mechanism FPZ discussed. results indicate that sequence from brittleness plasticity is gypsum, marble, granite, concrete fine sandstone. velocity granite reaches 0.02–0.025 mm/s, far exceeding sandstone at 0.003 mm/s 0.005 mm/s. stronger geomaterials, less significant their acoustic effect. Only few emissions occur gypsum 8 hits. Its occurs instantaneously rather than through tensile failure. Sandstone has strongest plasticity, large count before after fracture, hit number 5062, which 630 times pure gypsum. accumulation 94% sandstone, 89% concrete, 80% 60% marble showing shear except addition, smaller size. only about mm, can be considered as lacking, while other are 6–11 mm. depends on whether an interlocking structure formed inside material, related base material crystalline or aggregate particle

Comparative study between karafto cave and Aqrablu’s Rock Art
In different regions of Iran, numerous rock arts are obtained and the large number of them have been described and studied in various magazines and books. The rock art of Aqrablu in Bokan-Shahindej and karafto cave in Divandarreh, located in West Azerbaijan and Kurdistan provinces, are the valuable petroglyphs in the west and north-west of Iran. This study was based on literature review and fie...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Investigation of Rock Dynamic Fracture
Rapid development of engineering activities expands through a variety of rock engineering processes such as drilling, blasting, mining and mineral processing. These activities require rock dynamic fracture mechanics method to characterize the rock behavior. Dynamic fracture toughness is an important parameter for the analysis of engineering structures under dynamic loading. Several experimental...
متن کاملRock Fracture Image Segmentation Algorithms
Since rock fracture is a key property for different rock engineering applications, rock fracture measurement is often carried out in classifying the rock mass. Most geo-mechanics models (e.g. finite element) are of the equivalent continuum type in which fractures are represented not individually, but by their influence on a large element of the rock mass. Elastic modulus, for example, is obtain...
متن کاملStress Wave Propagation in Viscoelastic-Plastic Rock-Like Materials
Rock-like materials are composites that can be regarded as a mixture composed of elastic, plastic, and viscous components. They exhibit viscoelastic-plastic behavior under a high-strain-rate loading according to element model theory. This paper presents an analytical solution for stress wave propagation in viscoelastic-plastic rock-like materials under a high-strain-rate loading and verifies th...
متن کاملCouple stresses and the fracture of rock.
An assessment is made here of the role played by the micropolar continuum theory on the cracked Brazilian disc test used for determining rock fracture toughness. By analytically solving the corresponding mixed boundary-value problems and employing singular-perturbation arguments, we provide closed-form expressions for the energy release rate and the corresponding stress-intensity factors for bo...
